Ashland Town FC is driven by a sincere passion for the beautiful game. We are dedicated to nurturing talent, pursuing excellence, & making a positive impact on lives both on and off the field — right here in Ashland, Virginia and Hanover County.

Our aim is to build a club that succeeds in the sport while serving as a source of pride & connectivity for our community — and to prove that a small town has all the ingredients to produce extraordinary outcomes through the beautiful game.

Our Playing Style

Our teams are structured to play a clever, technically-driven, pattern-recognition style of soccer. We encourage our players to be both entertaining and tenacious on the field — approaching every game with a competitive spirit that cannot be extinguished.

While we strive for strong performances, our paramount priority at younger age groups remains player development and enjoyment. Players are allowed to make mistakes in order to learn from their own experiences and truly refine their problem-solving abilities.

We firmly believe soccer should be exciting, enjoyable, and rewarding for the kids above all else.

Program Details

Player Development

Team Placement & Call-Ups

Players are placed in their natural age group to ensure appropriate development. We implement merit-based call-ups for players to guest play with older teams — providing additional challenge and accelerating growth when the player is ready.

Coaching

Our Coaching Staff

Our program is led by Liam Hogan and supported by a dedicated coaching lineup with extensive NCAA college experience. Every coach is committed to implementing the club philosophy and fostering development across all age groups.

Uniforms & Gear

Kit & Equipment

All uniforms are purchased through soccer.com. Players need four Adidas items: a green jersey, a black jersey, black shorts, and black socks (~$120 total). Our official team store on soccer.com also carries customized fan gear. Players must always bring a ball, water, shin guards, and cleats to every session.

Season Structure

Schedule & Competition

The travel year runs across Fall and Spring seasons. Our teams compete primarily in the Advanced Development Soccer League (ADSL) and participate in four tournaments throughout the year. Older programs compete in UPSL Academy, EDP, and CCL PRO23.

Evaluation Philosophy

What We Look For

At younger ages, we assess a player's potential to learn, coachability, enthusiasm for our playing style, and ability to connect with teammates — over current skill level alone. We are building foundations, not selecting finished products.

Accessibility

Financial Aid

ATFC firmly believes financial circumstances should never be a barrier for a dedicated player. Financial aid is available for families who demonstrate genuine need. Applying for assistance has zero bearing on a player's evaluation or selection. Inquire confidentially at any time.
